REVIEW:
Being that Mary Calmes is a favorite author of mine I was excited for this first book in her Romanus series, aptly named Romanus. Then to have it narrated by one of my favorites, Greg Tremblay, bonus. The fact that this is a short story/ audio rounded out the triple threat and I really enjoyed it!
Mason, a fireman, sees an old man in the middle of the road while driving home late one night after work.
Stopping to help out he has no idea this one simple act of kindness will change his life forever.
Exhausted and coming off a double shift he can only think of sleep. After bringing the old man back to his home, and getting him sorted, Mason gets a glimpse of some strange happenings. Namely a man named Luc who he finds himself instantly attracted to.
What Mason doesn’t realize is that the old man happens to belong to a gargoyle clan and Luc is Mason’s “soul mate”. Mason is a really sweet man but he’s a bit clueless about what seems to be going on here.
Having never read a story about gargoyle shifters I found I was very excited to have the opportunity to listen to this story.
The instant attraction between Mason and Luc is off the charts hot and Mason begins to discover a few things about himself he never knew.
Greg Tremblay has a way with just his voice alone to bring a story alive. He delivers Mason’s confusion and dawning attraction to Luc so expertly. Drawing the listener in so quickly I was wrapped up in the tale and listened to it in one go.
The sexy scenes are done with such heat that you can actually hear the desire in Mason and Luc’s “voices”.
And Greg is a master of accents! His French accent is positively “swoon worthy”.
Throughout this short story I found myself wanting to learn more about this gargoyle clan and their world. The good news is that the story continues in Chevalier and I’ll be sure to pick that one up soon.
I highly recommend this audiobook for all paranormal lovers, as well as Mary Calmes and Greg Tremblay fans.
