May 22: Kimmers' Erotic Book Banter

Sleeping with Psychopaths: Gray. Show… not tell!

Huge thanks to Kimmers' Erotic Book Banter for hosting the third day of my tour! Yesterday I was at The Blogger Girls talking about Psychopaths & Sinners. Tomorrow I’m over at Books Laid Bare Boys, looking at readers who sleep with psychopaths! Please join me there too!

Today I’m getting under the covers with the ultimate psychopath! Gray…. And well, this is going to be a little different! We’ve some serious questions to look at answering here, but rather than tell you the answers, I’m going to let Gray show you. And it’s done with action taken from across the Don’t series, including the last novel: Fractured. So… let’s get inside Gray’s bed… erm… head.

Author Louisa Mae: How many people has Gray killed!

Gray took a box of matches out of his pocket and started to line the matches up, one by one by the knife. “I really don’t give a fuck, Light. I really don’t care how many then, how many now, or how many are stupid enough to yet cross my path.” ~ Fractured, Don’t 6

Would Gray ever kill Martin, even if it meant losing Jack??

“I’m done. I’m out,” Jan said gently, carrying on towards the reception hall. “But you really need to get access down there and stop whatever Gray’s going to do to Martin. He’ll kill him the way he is.” ~ Fractured, Don’t 6

How does Gray really feel about Martin?

Gray traced the knife down Martin’s throat, the tip grazing over his Adam’s apple, the curve of his throat, down over a pec… then gently circling the nipple.

Eyes still screwed closed, grip tight on his hair, Gray slammed Martin’s head into the wall. “You fucking hear, stunner? You fucking feel me now…?” ~ Psychopaths & Sinners, Don’t 5

Does Jan love Gray, or is it a case of he came with the whole “jack package”. I mean let’s face it, there’s NO way Jack was giving up Gray.

Jan frowned. “I was never going to be good enough, was I?”

Gray stopped and looked back.

Jan shrugged, briefly looking back down as footsteps came from behind. “I mean, Jack… Martin… I’m neither of them.” His gaze went to his feet, then he looked at Gray. “Just all the soft-touchy-feely stuff. Put it next to Jack’s chaos and calamity, Martin’s intelligence and gameplay, you and all that dark kink and… culler…” He shrugged again. “There’s no room left for me. I’ve got nothing for you, have I?” ~ Fractured, Don’t 6

How was Gray recruited to his role both professionally and personally within the MC?

“Do you know why Gray is a Master within the MC, Mr Brennan?”

“What? Who are you?” A rough sigh came off Brennan when the caller on the other end of the phone never replied. “Gray? Because he’s a good man, despite self-harming over thinking otherwise. And just who are you?”

“Sixteen years ago, the Prime Minister at the time didn’t take kindly to the idea of the MC. His words were: nothing more than a government-funded brothel for grown men and women who should show more class and restraint.”

Quiet on the line.

“He requested intervention from the cullers to look into closing the MC down.” Static came through. “So I’m going to ask again, Mr. Brennan. Can you see why Gray is a Master within the MC?”

Ferryman eased from the wall, his look not leaving Gray’s.

“I’ll put it another way for you. For a culler to take on a cull, he has to agree to the reasoning behind why a contract is called,” said the caller. “Gray’s initial assessment matched the Prime Minister’s, how BDSM brothels are only a breeding ground for disclosing secrets, especially when the sheets being shared are those of ex-MI5 operatives, serving soldiers… your Met personnel. So his culling orders were given, and he made the decision to go through your ranks with one directive: find evidence of breaking the Official Secrets Act, cull anyone found to break that rule.”

Jan frowned at Gray. Just briefly.

Nothing came from Brennan—then. “The fact we’re still standing, that no culls have taken place, it shows we have nothing to hide. I know Gray better than he thinks. I know his view changed over the years.”

“Yes his view changed. His protectiveness over anything to do with the MC is justified, Mr Brennan,” came the quiet reply. “The MC is true to its word, and you offer exceptional service and care for both serving and ex-servicemen from a number of departments. No fraud, no sold intelligence under the bedsheets, nothing to close or take you down from a culler’s POV.”

More quiet. “But if you threaten one of my cullers again, do you think I’ll personally care for any evidence?” ~ Fractured, Don’t 6

Author Ben Brock: There seems to be a lot of responsibility on Gray's shoulders, and yet it often appears as if he's a major part of the problem. How does he see his role in Jack’s recovery?

Gray brought up his good leg and rested his arm across it. “Christ. He was so scared, Jan.” Gray wiped a hand over his face. “So fucking scared… and I didn’t see it.” He shrugged. “I didn’t see them.” ~Fractured, Don’t 6

Does Gray sometimes feel as if he’s being watched?

Christ. Not Jan. Gray refused to see spies with Jan. Never Jan. Right? ~Fractured, Don’t 6

Kimmers: Would Gray ever have a commitment ceremony with Jan like he did Jack?

As Jan removed his shirt and started to undo his trousers….

Gray looked back. Stilled.

Jan’s tattoo ran just below his navel, following the fine V. No blue moon rose, just a silver collar, that was Jack, but Gray’s Welsh inscription across it…

Gray pulled Jan in, kissing along the ink.

That… that was all Gray. For Gray. Them.

They were all never far from fucking here. ~ Fractured, Don’t 6

And there we have it, showing a little of Gray and where his psychopath side takes him.

And Kim – thank you sooo much for hosting me today! And also for allowing me take over your M/M Banter Group over on Facebook. It was a wicked chat!

About Psychopaths & Sinners

“Because us? Psychopaths and sinners… we don’t need fixing, Gray.”

Three bodies, three mutilations, each one with something… unusual inserted into the wounds. The deaths are enough to leave Ash Thomas scrambling around to find someone to trust as the murders hit so close to home and heart.

For Gray Raoul, MI5 director of G-Branch, the deaths offer something else, a fall back into a familiar life where culling serial killers cater to his own darker mindset. But the farther Gray moves away from home, the more he realises serial killer games in the field are nothing compared to who he has locked up back at home. Sometimes walking the fine line between psychopaths and live-in lovers is a far darker game.

For Ash, that might just mean he’s on his own now, facing a killer who has a deadly fascination for pretty young men and dancing Holly Blue butterflies over their skin.

Meet the Author

Jack L. Pyke blames her dark writing influences on living close to one of England’s finest forests. Having grown up hearing a history of kidnappings, murders, strange sightings, and sexual exploits her neck of the woods is renowned for, Jack takes that into her writing, having also learned that human coping strategies for intense situations can sometimes make the best of people have disastrously bad moments. Redeeming those flaws is Jack’s drive, and if that drive just happens to lead to sexual tension between two or more guys, Jack’s the first to let nature take its course.
