Monday Mentions: September 12, 2016
With America’s election looming ever closer I thought it would be fun to bring some politically themed stories your way for this week’s Monday Mentions. And I think you will find both of these selections will allow you a different twist as well as background to choose from. So why not try them both?
Tomorrow Diana Jean will release her Cursus Honorum over at Less Than Three Press. This gay historical drama takes you to war torn Rome and follows Decimus’ ambitious drive for power, as well as his desire for his potential running mate, Marius.
On Thursday J. Leigh Bailey offers her new young adult novel with Harmony Ink, Do-Gooder. Banished as the result of a misunderstanding, Isaiah finds himself thrust into the political turmoil in Africa. When doo-gooder, Henry and he are kidnapped they may have to save each other in order to survive.
Make it a great week!
We at the Banter would love to know if you have purchased any of our Monday Mentions and, if so, how well you liked them. Please feel free to comment below.
BLURB: Returning to Rome war torn and weary, all Marius wants is to relax and be left alone. Instead he is dragged right into the midst of the parties and politics he prefers to avoid—and meets Decimus, a young, rising politician full of ambition and hard to ignore. Decimus is determined to prove that his youth doesn't mean he's not deserving of the awe and respect of every sneering old man in Rome trying to dismiss him. He is also determined to have Marius as his running mate, which will secure his career in a way nothing else could. What neither man expects is to see in each other something they thought was lost forever……
BLURB:
No good deed goes unpunished, and for seventeen-year-old Isaiah Martin, that’s certainly the case. The gun he was caught with wasn’t even his, for God’s sake. He only had it to keep a friend from doing something stupid. No one wants to hear it, though, and Isaiah is banished—or so it seems to him—to live with his missionary father in politically conflicted Cameroon, Africa.
However, when he arrives, his father is so busy doing his good deeds that he sends Henry, the young, surprisingly hot do-gooder with a mysterious past, to pick up Isaiah and keep him out of trouble. Even while Isaiah is counting down the days until he can go home, he and Henry get caught in the political unrest of the region. Kidnapped by militant forces, the two have to work together to survive until they are rescued—unless they manage to find a way to save each other first.
