Monday Mentions: January 15, 2018
For today’s Monday Mentions we bring to you two upcoming titles featuring men struggling with a painful past who find love, release…and a little BDSM.
Although book six in her Tales from Rainbow Alley series, Jaime Samms’ Safe and Sound is releasing January 16th as a standalone at Pride Publishing. Rikki and Simon appear to be a disaster waiting to happen but from the moment Simon moves into the same house, they seem exactly what the other needs. Yet their internal struggle in the bedroom, and a past lover, may derail them both unless Rikki learns to trust all the deadly skills he’s grown to loathe.
In the first edition of her New Amsterdam series, Kelly Wyre brings us Hearts Under Fire on January 17th at Less Than Three Press. It’s been a long road to recovery for Clark whose world was turned upside down by a suicide bomber. His life is good now, so long as he doesn’t get too close to anyone. But when Daniel walks into his BDSM club he proves to be a challenge Clark can’t walk away from.

About Safe and Sound
Overcoming past hurts and letting love back in sometimes means reinventing everything about yourself, and sometimes means loving who you already are despite the jagged edges.
Rikki’s past is ugly, painful and full of blood. Simon is getting over a lover who only saw him for his uses, but had no use for his heart. From the outside, they seem like a disaster waiting to happen.
From the moment Simon moves into the same house, they seem to be exactly what the other needs. Except for one small detail. Simon has never been—or wanted to be—the one in charge in the bedroom. And Rikki doesn’t trust himself to keep Simon safe. So when Simon demands independence in all other things, Rikki is sure he’ll have to accept a life of solitude and hold himself inside his cold shell.
Meanwhile, as Simon waits for Rikki to bring the heat, his old lover is still hoping to use him one more time. Rikki is going to have to trust his instincts—and all the deadly skills he’s grown to loathe and fear—to keep his Simon safe.
Reader Advisory: This book contains mentions of past abuse, child prostitution and violence.
About Hearts Under Fire
Ten years ago, Clark thought he would spend his life as a military man. But his world turned into a nightmare when a suicide bomber destroyed his career. It's been a long road to recovery, but Clark has finally found peace. His bar, Glow, is the place to be in New Amsterdam; the son of the mayor employs Clark as a confidential information man; and the BDSM club he part-owns is a profitable release. Clark's life is a good one, so long as no one gets too close. Then Daniel walks into Glow, and what Clark expects to be just another handsome face proves instead to be the kind of challenge he's been avoiding—but he just can't seem to walk away.
