BANTER BUDDIES: A Dual View of Charlie Cochet's 'Gummy Bears & Grenades'
For most THIRDS fans the best part is watching the guys cut loose and have some fun. Tracy and I agree, Gummy Bears & Grenades is hilarious… an instant classic, and one we will return to again when we need a good laugh.
Take a look at our review recommendations and our Banter Buddy Q & A and you’ll see what I mean. Trio

About Gummy Bears & Grenades
THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley can’t wait to marry his fiancé, Team Leader Sloane Brodie, but first he’s looking forward to celebrating his bachelor party—which he intends to be a shenanigans-free evening of getting his groove on with family and friends.
Of course events don’t work out as planned, but for Dex that’s nothing new. One thing is for sure, dodging drug dealers and hired thugs amid booze, dancing—and even a bear costume—will guarantee it’s a night Dex will never forget. Now he just needs to survive all the fun.
Enjoy this bonus story from the THIRDS universe. These events occur between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True in the series timeline. While reading this story would enhance your experience of the THIRDS series, it is not essential to read before Tried & True.
Favorite Main Character
Trio: Oh Hudson really shines in this one! I think we’ve all had a friend like him, who would party a little too hard and really let his hair down? Oh my gosh, when he’s chatting up the waitress and wondering why he never dyed his hair any bright colors? So funny!
Tracy: Dex is THE best!
Favorite Secondary Character
Trio: I always hope Austen makes an appearance, so YAY he comes to Dex’s bachelor party! He’s such a funny character, that little Peeping Tom!
Tracy: Gotta be Sloane.
Favorite Endearment
Trio: Oh, when Dex calls the three cheetah Therians, "The Chirpies".
Favorite Scene
Trio: I love when they’re talking about Ash feeling attraction to Cael when they’re in their Therian forms, and Hudson misunderstands thinking, *ahem* well never mind, let’s just say he misunderstands. Then Hudson goes all Dr. Ruth on him - Ash is mortified!
Tracy: There’s a particular scene at Dekatria involving a male stripper and Dex... I shall not say another word!
Favorite Quote
Tracy: It’s not really a quote but narrator Mark Westfield says, “'Dex had consumed so many gummy bears in the last few hours he was pretty sure he was going to be pooping rainbows.'”
Best flashback or revisit of a scene from another perspective:
Trio: I enjoy the look back into Austen’s past. My heart just breaks for those Therian children whose parents are afraid of them and don’t want them anymore. Austen’s story is a heartbreaker, and it serves to show a different side of Sonya Sparks as well.
Best introduction of spin-off character(s):
Trio: I can’t wait for Zach and Austen’s story! Talk about how opposites attract. I’m looking forward to watching Zach work out all Austen’s kinks (and I mean that in only the best way)!
Tracy: I’m hoping we get to see a lot more of Wolf.
This book made me:
Trio: Smile! It was great to be a fly on the wall when the guys are cutting loose and having fun. They are a family, and to see all the love as well as the quarreling, it makes me so glad they found each other.
Tracy: Really excited for the wedding of the century!!
The type of reader I would you recommend this book to:
Trio: Someone who wants a breather from the tension and just wants to laugh for a while. While you don’t have to read this one, you can go right from Darkest Hour to Tried & True, it was a wonderful break.
Tracy: Most definitely to fans of the THIRDS series but also fans of shifter, romance and action stories.
