HOT TOPIC: New Feature - Vintage Reads

If you’re like any one of us here at Kimmers’ Erotic Book Banter we bet you have an endless To Be Read pile. So many in fact you can’t seem to find the one you bought purposefully for the blurb. Or maybe you can’t recall why you picked up a certain book to begin with. Heck, you probably have tons you grabbed just because they were free. And this doesn’t even begin to account for the ones you have on your Goodreads TBR list. So, how does a hoarder (yes, we admit we hoard books) decide which delicious tale to turn the page on first? We were wondering that very same thing! One thought that came to mind was grabbing the oldest first. But even then you might still need a little incentive to pick just the right read. With this in mind we have created a new feature here at KEBB called Vintage Reads. Because just like a high-quality wine, books never go out of style, you just might need some help to find that perfect note. As we embark upon our own TBR mountains we intend to share with you those books that were published at least 12 months or more, provide some insight as to what sparked us to select them and encourage your choices with our read recommendations. Be sure to follow along, you might just discover you have a fantastic read already waiting for you!

To kick start us off Toni has selected Andi Van’s Starting with the Unexpected.

Edited: You know, this could actually do quite the opposite and "add" to your TBR pile. In that case we apologize. But don't say we didn't warn you. *winks*

Thanks Kimmers! I am so excited for this new series here at KEBB, I just can’t wait to blow the dust off of some of these books that have been waiting to be devoured.

Myself, I am drawn to author’s writing styles and the way they capture me - “the reader.” I first encountered Andi Van’s work when choosing their Krampus Hates Christmas seasonal story. Their use of humour, clever wit and sarcasm made me an instant fan.

After finishing Krampus Hates Christmas, I took a look at Andi’s website and investigated the back catalogue.

Starting with the Unexpected had good reviews (yes, I check those too!) and seemed to hint at more humour and sarcasm so it was an easy choice.

If the author creates a world I want to visit (and sometimes I want to live there), that feels like I belong, can make friends there, and even bloom in that environment - I tend to jump in and immerse myself in their writing. Andi is one of these authors and I am now a keen follower on social media awaiting the next installments of their writing lives!

About Starting with the Unexpected

Zachary Blaise is having a weird week—even by his standards. Though he's gay, the radio personality has been dumped via text by a girl named Marian—and he's never even met her. On top of that, he's developed a massive crush on Marcus, the new waiter at his favorite diner. His best friend thinks the whole thing is hilarious.

Marcus’s week hasn’t been his best either. He's been betrayed by those closest to him, and although he isn't the guilty party, Marcus is the one getting harassed.

Impossibly, things are about to get even weirder. Marian has secrets, and those secrets are going to make some serious ripples in Zach's life. When he discovers that the girl called Marian is actually the man named Marcus, Zach stumbles down a rabbit hole of abusive ex-boyfriends, psychotic relatives, and revelations from his own past. If he can survive the chaos, the journey might prove worth the effort.
