HOT TOPIC: National Book Lovers Day August 9th
In celebration of National Book Lovers Day today the Banter is forgoing Taboo Tuesday this week to bring you something special.
We thought it would be fitting to talk about a book, an author or perhaps a genre that piqued our interest in the romance realm. And by sharing our passion we hope you might find something new to enjoy.
So take a peek, and while you’re at it don’t forget to reach out and say “thank you” to those authors who have touched your heart and soul.
We would love to know where your love of romance began. Feel free to comment below.
Kimmers
I thought it very fitting to talk about the book that got me started in the M/M erotica genre; which in turn motivated the creation of Kimmers’ Erotic Book Banter.
That book is none other than Joseph Lance Tonlet’s Grif’s Toy.
Read My Review Here
I picked up Grif’s Toy for the simple fact that the book blurb spoke to me on many levels and I was hoping I might gain some insight. I could not even begin to imagine how much Tonlet would open my eyes or, for that matter, the relationship that would develop between author and reader.
If you have not yet had the opportunity to read Grif’s Toy you really should. It is one man’s journey to uncover his true self and kink, to open himself up to accept that every part of him is worth loving.
Grif will pull at your heart strings and have you crushing on him within the first few pages. But it is ultimately the profound, unwavering love, desire, and appreciation that Wes has for him that will leave you breathless.
I can honestly say do not be scared off by the humiliation in this book. Don’t be scared by Grif’s fear at having less than “man-sized equipment”. Ultimately where these two men’s journey leads is somewhere beautiful and special that will have you viewing kink in an entirely new light.
I feel I would be remiss if I did not also speak to those other M/M authors who have touched me so in the past couple of years. For more Grif’s Toy flavor be kind enough to check out Kora Knight and her Upending Tad Series as well as Jack L. Pyke and her Don’t…. boys or Rain Carrington's BDSM selections. For a little contemporary HEA head on over to Louis Stevens’ Twice the Hands to Hold or Keira Andrews’ Beyond the Sea. Like a little humor? Z.B. Heller and her Tied Together series delivers. Looking for something a little more edgy or Taboo? Bey Deckard and Liberty Lace can help you out with that!
I am so fortunate to have dipped my toes in the M/M pool and am thankful my entire mind, heart and soul are enveloped now. THANK YOU to all the beautiful authors who have shared so much of yourself to make my reading journey possible.
And now....Tracy!

I feel like I’ve always loved romance books.
It really all started with my mother’s books. She used to read mostly romance novels. Some of her favorite authors were Rosemary Rogers, Johanna Lindsey, Cassie Edwards and so many others I can’t remember. Of course the book covers all had the beautiful half-dressed heroine on the front and usually a muscled torso man with a gorgeous face.
I loved those books!
I especially had a fondness for a man in uniform, preferably a soldier. And my favorite romance novels have always had a HEA.
Today my passion continues and I am in love with Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooter series, or SEAL 16. I’ve read every single book and what I most enjoy about them is not only the romance but the action. The missions these guys have to go on, the rescues, the explosions, and near death experiences. I just love the thrill and the chase when all the while the MC’s are battling a scorching hot sexual attraction.
Two of my favorite couples from Brockmann’s series are Sam and Alyssa in Gone Too Far, a male/female partnership, and Jules and Robin in Force of Nature, male/male.
In fact my love of the Jules/Robin storyline somehow turned me on to Abi Roux’s Cut and Run series. Cut and Run is one of my top favorites! The story line has everything I love in a romance. Ty is a Marine and and FBI agent. Ty and Zane find themselves in rescues, endure explosions and near death experiences all while fighting, yet eventually giving into, their amazing sexual chemistry.
So, yeah, I enjoy a hot scorching read! Now I hand you to Julie.

I have to admit, when Kimmers asked me to write about my passion I was a little nervous. The fact is that I am simply addicted to books. Especially erotic books.
I was going to try and write about the first erotic book that really got me hooked however I can not pinpoint just one. There is something unique in all of them.
And although the majority of books I read are erotic(a) I enjoy a wide variety of stories and characters within that genre. Including different combinations of males and females, humans or shifters, and even vampires.
For me I enjoy losing myself in these stories. Not only that but I find reading them can keep my life "spicy". *winks*
Whether the stories are written like porn or are mostly contemporary I find there is almost always a tale of great love and most times the characters are very relatable.
For me this is important as I think most people need some type of occasional escape and stress reliever and books have always been that for me.
For that I could never express my gratitude enough to authors!
I do hope you enjoy my varied reviews on the Banter.
